Wearable tech has evolved in fits and starts, never quite managing the capture the public’s attention in the ground-breaking way smartphones did when they were first released. The introduction of the new BMW ConnectedRide Smartglasses looks set to change that dynamic by bringing real-world practical applications to smartglasses and transforming the motorbiking experience. Their sleek and ergonomic design has been created to ensure a comfortable fit under a crash helmet, with slim temples, tips, and a well-fitting bridge.
Available in two interchangeable lens types for clear and tinted, the BMW ConnectedRide smartglasses are also available in two sizes to suit the size and shape of your head. The real draw is, of course, the inclusion of a crisp and vibrant heads-up display located above the right lens on the inside, which users can turn on and off whenever they need to. This optical projection module delivers a range of navigation information to the rider, including speed, gear, and navigation. Data on the speed limit for the location you’re riding is also displayed, a handy addition for superbike enthusiasts who rapidly move between different speed zones.
Fully controllable via a smartphone using the BMW Motorrad Connected app, the ConnectedRide sunglasses represent the cutting edge of wearable technology from a company with a strong reputation for innovation. The glasses are expected to arrive in the U.S. later in 2023 and to be available in most states. Pricing and more detailed U.S. information will be available closer to the sale date.
