Audio-Technica’s ATH-M50xSTS-WL cuts the tether without treating the microphone as an afterthought. Its first wireless StreamSet combines the 45mm drivers of the ATH-M50x monitor headphones with a cardioid condenser microphone derived from the brand’s 20 Series.

The connection uses a supplied USB transceiver and low-latency 2.4GHz digital wireless, rather than positioning the headset as another Bluetooth commuter model. It expands a range previously built around XLR and USB connections, giving streamers and gamers a single headset for listening and voice capture.

A flexible boom keeps the condenser close to the mouth, and lifting it mutes the microphone. Two selectable levels of adaptive noise reduction target background sounds such as computer fans and air conditioning. This is processing for the outgoing voice signal, distinct from the listening-side cancellation familiar from wireless headphones. Sidetone feeds the wearer’s voice back through the headset for more natural monitoring.

Keeping the microphone on the headset also preserves its position as the wearer moves, reducing dependence on a fixed desk microphone. Comfort is adjustable, too. Standard M50x earpads prioritize sound isolation, while the included breathable mesh pair provides an alternative for longer sessions. The drivers use rare-earth magnets and copper-clad aluminum voice coils, retaining a clear connection to the studio model rather than relying on gaming cosmetics.
Rated battery life reaches 24 hours, and the headset can remain in use while charging over USB. The ATH-M50xSTS-WL costs $299.
