Audi PB18 E-Tron Concept

Never mind the trend toward driverless cars. The Audi PB18 E-Tron Concept is all about the human driver.

As automotive technology seems to march tenaciously toward a commercially-viable driverless car, Audi is pushing back with its PB18 E-Tron Concept. Although the car company has a long history of embracing autonomous and semiautonomous features, this new electric vehicle concept vehicle is all about the human driver. Audi even goes so far as to call its PB18 E-Tron “Level Zero” in a nose-thumbing reference to the Society of Automotive Engineer’s six levels of driving autonomy.

So what does a “Level Zero” car look like to the driver who craves a bit of adventure? Well, first and foremost, the PB18 E-Tron is fast, drawing upon the power of three electric motors for a combined 671 horsepower under normal driving circumstances and access to peak power levels of 764 horsepower in short bursts. The results on the test track are incredibly impressive for an electric vehicle as the PB18 E-Tron can go from 0 to 62 miles per hour in just over two seconds.
