Last year, Audi unveiled an electric variant of the A6, and now they are showing us the Audi A6 Avant e-Tron Concept. Audi has not confirmed that this concept will go into production, but they also have not denied it. So, until a decision is made, all we have is details on the concept model. The Avant e-Tron is essentially a wagon, or shooting brake, of the electric Audi A6. Underneath the bodywork, the Avant is built on the new Volkswagen Group PPE platform used on the Audi Q6 e-Tron and electric Porsche Macan.
Based on the electric A6, the Audi A6 Avant e-Tron Concept features an estimated 100-kWh battery pack. Its 800-volt system provides up to 270-kilowatts of charging capacity. The goal for Audi is to achieve up to 435 miles of range for the A6 EV. Furthermore, using a fast charger will allow for charging roughly 186 miles within ten minutes. Similar to the A6, the A6 Avant e-Tron packs 469-hp and 590 lb.-ft of torque. In addition, the Avant e-Tron Concept features air suspension with 22-inch wheels. Given the Audi Avant’s reputation, the e-Tron variant will feature all-wheel-drive using a dual-motor configuration. However, the PPE platform can also cater to single motor layouts.
One unique party trick on the A6 Avant e-Tron Concept is a set of side-mounted projectors. This feature can project greeting messages and warning symbols to oncoming cyclists when the car senses a door is opening. While the Avant is merely a concept, for now, the Audi A6 electric will arrive in 2024.
In case you missed it, Audi introduced another concept car with its Grandsphere Concept.
