General Motors is auctioning off a 2023 Corvette Z06 for charity with a twist. To get the car, first, you must bid on the car’s NFT. Yes, you read that right. In today’s crypto climate, Chevrolet is banking on raising big crypto bucks to benefit DonorsChoose.
The single NFT is titled “Own the Color,” displaying a bright green 2023 Corvette Z06 roasting its rear tires through a blue-tinted urban environment. The real-world counterpart is a Minted Green 2023 Corvette Z06 with a carbon fiber package. The car’s body kit includes a larger front splitter, dive planes, and a rear wing made from carbon fiber. Chevrolet claims this enhanced body kit generates 734-pounds of downforce at 186 mph. Other features include Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, Michelin Sport Cup 2 R ZP tires, and unique FE7 suspension with Magnetic Ride Control 4.0.
Under the hood of the Corvette Z06 is a 5.5 flat-crank V8 producing 670-hp and 460 lb.-ft of torque. An eight-speed dual-clutch transmission sends the V8 power to the rear wheels, pushing the C8 Z06 from zero to 60 in 2.9-seconds. Included in the auction is an exclusive RFN option code to associate the 2023 Corvette Z06 with its NFT. The online auction runs from June 20-24 on SuperRare, and the currency accepted for bidding is Ethereum. All proceeds from the auction benefit DonorsChoose, an organization that supports teachers in need.
