The 2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing debuted alongside its bigger sibling, the CT5-V Blackwing. The CT4-V is meant to be the successor to the Cadillac ATS-V. While both vehicles share the same 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, the 2022 CT4-V Blackwing has been re-engineered with revised and improved engine components. The 2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing comes out of the gate with 472 horsepower and 445 lb-ft of torque. That is enough muscle to push the CT4-V Blackwing from zero to 60 in an estimated 3.8 seconds and onward to an approximate top speed of 189 mph. On paper, the 2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing is more powerful than the Audi RS3 and Mercedes-Benz AMG CLA 45 – by a lot.

The CT4-V Blackwing performance puts it wheel to wheel with the BMW M3, which uses a twin-turbo inline-six to produce 473 hp and 406 lb-ft torque. However, the Cadillac is more affordable and offers something a new BMW M3 does not – a six-speed manual transmission. Like the CT5-V, the 2022 CT4-V Blackwing comes standard with a manual and optional ten-speed automatic transmission sending all its power to the rear wheels through an electronic limited-slip differential. The CT4-V Blackwing’s power meets the road via a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires designed to optimize wet traction and offer track durability while using a street tire. In a world of all-wheel drive dominance and SUVs being called coupes, the Cadillac CT4-V and CT5-V Blackwing bring a blissful reminder that rear-wheel-drive V8s and manual transmissions are not dead yet.
