Ferrari is synonymous with fast cars, but with the release of the 2019 Ferrari 488 Pista, the Prancing Horse takes its V8 performance to new levels.

The 488 Pista is the next progression from Ferrari’s V8-engined special series that features the the 360 Challenge Stradale, 430 Scuderia, and the 458 Speciale. Based on the 488 GTB, the Ferrari 488 Pista succeeds these models with more performance and more technology.

Ferrari engineers went to great lengths to reduce the Pista’s weight giving it track-like performance both on and off the road. The new model is 90 kg lighter than the 488 GTB while it receives boosted engine output in comparison to the other special series cars. The new engine sets a record for Ferrari as the most powerful V8 in the company’s history, delivering 711-hp and a top speed of 211 mph.

The car should also handle better with enhanced vehicle dynamics focused on performance. Engineers labored on the Ferrari 488 Pista’s mechanical set-up and electronic dynamic controls into the sixth version of the Side-Slip Angle Control system. State of the art software is also used to adjust the brake pressure at the callipers.

Expected to make its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month, the 488 Pista has the McLaren 720S right in its crosshairs, as it takes on the current performance king.
