As part of his grandiose mission of restoring prestige to American watchmaking, Weiss Watch Company founder Cameron Weiss began selling his Standard Issue Field Watch at a San Francisco market in June 2013. After five years of success with a range of watch models, Weiss is back with a redesigned version of this flagship product.

Although the reissued Weiss Standard Issue Field Watch (like all Weiss watches) is handmade entirely in the USA, it builds upon the exceptionally fine standards of Swiss watchmaking craftsmanship. The biggest update to the watch is its size, as it transitions from a trendy but somewhat boring 42mm to a more thoughtful 38mm case size, with a height of only 9.7mm.

Other features of the Weiss Standard Issue Field Watch include sapphire crystals on both the front and the display back, showing the manual winding movement inside (which is always better than an automatic movement since it’s not obstructed by the rotor), 100m water resistance, and a sweeping second hand dial. The Weiss Standard Issue Field Watch is available in black and white dials.
