Vollebak’s Leather Shielding Jacket brings the brand’s future-material obsession to one of menswear’s most familiar silhouettes: the A-2 flight jacket. The result is a black leather bomber that looks relatively understated from the outside but hides an electromagnetic shielding layer beneath its vegetable-tanned nappa sheep leather shell.

The jacket is cut from 1mm-thick black nappa sheep leather, chosen for its softness, fine grain, and ability to develop a patina over time. Vollebak bases the shape on the A-2 flight jacket, then reworks the format with cleaner lines, a covered two-way front zip, a two-piece collar, Italian ribbed cuffs and hem, gunmetal Riri zips and snaps, double-layer front pockets, and a sleeve zip pocket. It weighs 1,342 grams and is made in London.

The technical story sits inside the lining. Vollebak uses 100% silver-plated polyamide designed to block electromagnetic waves across the 30MHz to 10GHz frequency range, which includes common Wi-Fi and Bluetooth bands as well as certain satellite and radar frequencies. The brand lists shielding effectiveness at 51.5 to 61.1dB across that range, equivalent to more than 99.999% attenuation under test conditions. Because silver is also antimicrobial, the lining adds a secondary material benefit beyond signal reduction.

Vollebak also builds in a hidden phone shielding pocket, designed to work like a wearable Faraday cage by enclosing a device inside the same shielding system. That gives the jacket a more practical edge than its sci-fi premise might suggest, especially for anyone interested in signal isolation, digital privacy, or simply Vollebak’s ongoing experiments in clothing as equipment.

The Vollebak Leather Shielding Jacket is available for pre-order now in sizes XS to XXL. Pricing is set at $4,295.
