Virgil Abloh is the founder of Off-White — the apparel line of choice among those who like to bridge the gap between streetwear and high fashion. He is also an architecture graduate, a DJ/music producer, and the incoming Men’s Artistic Director at Louis Vuitton. With all of this on his plate, you might think he wouldn’t go all out for his recent collaboration with IKEA. Think again.

Speaking of partnering with IKEA on the MARKERAD Collection as a tremendous opportunity, he declared, “I’m not content to just make another chair.” The IKEA chair that he did make is a tribute to the everyday and the anonymous that uses a common household doorstop as a statement of compete originality and uniqueness. “When we put a doorstop on one of the legs of an ordinary chair,” says Abloh, “we create something unexpected — an interruption.”
