If there’s one thing that Todd Snyder loves, it’s a good creative partnership with an iconic consumer brand. I mean, the man has racked up six product collaborations with New Balance alone. Now he’s back with New Balance for the seventh time to reboot its classic 998 sneaker from 1983.
What Snyder does with the vintage New Balance 998 silhouette is truly exceptional. Driven by a desire to reimagine the 998 in “playful, wearable technicolor, ” he spilt the various components and surfaces of the shoe into a prismatic array of primary or secondary hues with deep and solid overtones. To balance what might otherwise become garish color overload, Snyder wisely toned things down with central side and heel panels of muted grey. The Todd Snyder + New Balance 998 Color Spectrum is composed of premium suede and features Abzorb midsole cushioning.
