Marshall, the iconic manufacturer of guitar amps and speakers, has recently unveiled its first smartphone called London, and you’ve got to give credit to the designers for making a smartphone that looks and feels just like the company’s classic guitar amp. Marshall London comes in a flat and rectangular shape, featuring a gold scroll wheel for volume control and a matte black surface very similar to the tolex covering of a Marshall amp.

With a 4.7-inch 720p IPS LCD, quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410, 2GB RAM, 16GB mass storage and a 8MP camera, the phone’s specs aren’t that impressive and is nowhere close to those of the iPhone or Galaxy. But this shouldn’t be much of a problem as Marshall is targeting a distinct market segment that will truly appreciate the company’s long-standing audio wisdom.

So when it comes to sound quality, the Marshall London has a long list of items to boast about – one of them being the two front facing speakers that arguably makes London “the loudest mobile phone on Earth.” Not only is it loud, but the sound quality is also crystal clear with the help of Wolfson WM8281 Audio Hub, a soundcard famous for its HD audio solutions. What’s quite unusual is that the phone has two headphone jacks, allowing two people to listen to music in stereo. This also means that taking the Marshall London out on your date night will drastically reduce the chance of that romantic scene where you split a pair of earbuds with your significant other and then start smooching.
