The latest Shinola Forged Carbon Monster Automatic is a unique addition to Shinola’s ever-growing product line. Weighing as little as plastic, this corrosion-resistant, forged carbon timepiece is ultra-strong and able to handle anything the wearer puts it through. Having been created out of the same carbon fiber that space shuttles and racecars are made of, the fiber is chopped into tiny pieces and mixed with resin. This mixture is then put under intense pressure and heat, which solidifies into a composite. Ultra-light, the forged carbon case possesses three-dimensional strength that traditional carbon fiber sheets cannot achieve.
Inspired by northern Minnesota’s Black Beach, the Shinola Forged Carbon Monster Automatic offers a uniquely colored and etched 45mm case featuring the Great Lakes. Its black sand-blasted dial reflects the dark sand of the beach, a remnant of its industrial past. Shinola has applied polished gunmetal indices with blue glow C1 lume fill and cream-tipped hands to the face to provide easy legibility in the dark. Sitting below the twelve o’clock marker is a diver down flag, while a calendar aperture sits at three o’clock. Rated at 30 ATM and built beyond ISO-6425 specifications, users can keep track of their time underwater with the Shinola Carbon Monster’s unidirectional bezel. Use the included black rubber strap for diving and other watersports. The watch has a quick-release feature making it easy to switch to the included woven orange nylon strap when desired.
