Santa Cruz’s newest electric city bike aims at taking the weight off e-bike riders with a lightweight frame and efficient powertrain. The new model is the Santa Cruz Skitch e-bike. Santa Cruz describes this e-bike as the “ultimate city-slicking, traffic-flicking, alleycat-slipping, rat race-escaping teleportation device.”
With a description like that, one must know what the Skitch e-bike offers the urban cyclist. It starts with a whisper-quiet, frictionless Fazua Ride 60 motor, providing three power modes manageable by the rider through the Fazua app. Powering the motor is a 430-Wh battery pack, allowing the 60 motor to produce 44.2 pound-feet of torque and an estimated 28 miles of range.
The Santa Cruz Skitch e-bike is offered in sizes ranging from small to XXL, with a choice of flat bar or drop bar. Riding on 700cm wheels and tips the scales at 30 pounds in Apex Carbon CC spec. The other variant of the Skitch, the GX AXS, also comes at the same curb weight to make riding up and down the concrete jungle easier.
To quote Santa Cruz, the Skitch is “guaranteed to improve your well-being.” Regardless of whether that statement is a claim or marketing, this e-bike provides an option to riders who want performance without the weight.
