Swiss luxury watch brand, Richard Mille, has just launched the Richard Mille RM 055 Bubba Watson, a manual winding watch to honor American professional golf legend Gerry Lester Watson Jr., more commonly known by the nickname “Bubba.” Dressed in white ceramic, the case of the RM 055 Bubba Watson houses the highly skeletonized Calibre RMUL 2 movement in grade 5 titanium with a PVD- and Titalyt treated baseplate and bridges. Richard Mille subjected the baseplate and bridges to intensive validation tests to enhance their resistance capabilities ensuring that the movement is able to withstand impacts of over 5000 g’s, equivalent to the force created in Bubba Watson’s swing.
The movement used in the 42.70 x 49.90mm RM 055 Bubba Watson is outfitted with a variable-inertia balance wheel, which ensures reliability in the event of impacts and during assembly and dismantling, which improves the long-term accuracy of the timepiece. The regulator index is eliminated, and a more accurate and repeatable inertia adjustment is possible thanks to four small adjustable weights located directly on the balance wheel. The double-barrel mechanism helps to improve and equalize long-term torque stability, resulting in improved long-term performance. The Richard Mille RM 055 Bubba Watson is finished with a caseband and back bezel that are made of grade 5 titanium with a protective white rubber casing, making it very comfortable to wear.
