Car enthusiasts can never have too many books about their obsession with four-wheeled machines. This newly released book of Porsche design studies and photographs offers a unique perspective beyond the typical automotive history literature. The book is titled Porsche Unseen: The Showcars and it is composed of photos, renderings, and sketches of Porsche prototypes and concept vehicles that never reached production. The book is composed of archived ideas from 2005-2019, featuring 15 concept vehicles that never made it into the public spotlight, like an album of never before released songs written by Jimi Hendrix or Tupac Shakur.
These concepts include a four-seat Porsche 911, a “space-shuttle” inspired futuristic van, and a street-legal version of the 919 race car. These vehicles are displayed in various stages of reality, from early sketches to computer renderings and even clay scale models. Photos for the book were taken by Stefan Bogner, with text written by Jan Baedeker, who gained insight from Porsche’s Head of Design, Michael Mauer. Porsche Unseen: The Showcars makes for a visually stunning holiday gift for the Porsche or general automotive fanatic in your life.
