Piaget has unveiled a fully skeletonized version of its celebrated Piaget Polo, the luxury sports watch created by Piaget in 1979. The designers tasked with creating the Polo Skeleton had the challenge of maintaining the bold and unmistakable look that gives the Piaget Polo its personality while achieving a combination of elegance and comfort. The Polo Skeleton maintains the key elements of the Polo, such as the curved case with a round bezel, and the cushion-shaped dial opening, but in a case that is 30 percent thinner than existing versions. In fact, the 42 mm stainless steel case of the Polo Skeleton is just 6.5 mm thick. This is possible thanks to the manufacture 1200S1 self-winding movement which is a wafer-like 2.4 mm thin. Beating at the frequency of 3 Hz, it offers a power reserve of 44 hours.
The new 42mm Piaget Polo Skeleton timepiece is available in two highly individual designs – the first with a movement in Piaget Blue PVD, the second in a slate gray finish. A clear sapphire crystal case back, meanwhile, allows the meticulously finished and highly detailed movement to be seen and appreciated from both sides of the watch. The polished and satin-finished ‘H’ design integrated bracelet that has become synonymous with the Piaget Polo has been revised in order to provide an interchangeable function – one is able to effortlessly swap out the bracelet for the alligator strap supplied with each watch.
