Parconido Bakery Cafe: A Stunning Blend Of Contemporary Design And European Charm

This captivating space presents a unified atmosphere where forms, furniture, and lighting come together to create a truly enchanting experience.

Seoul-based architecture studio sukchulmok has unveiled its latest masterpiece, the Parconido Bakery Cafe, located in northern Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. Designed by lead architect Park Hyunhee, this unique establishment combines subtle contemporary materials with simple rounded forms, resulting in a captivating space that exudes unity and elegance.

Drawing inspiration from European architectural elements, the architects at sukchulmok integrated red brick and stainless steel to create a seamless fusion of old-world charm and modern aesthetics. The cafe’s structure boasts layered walls and columns, all meticulously crafted with a radius of 600 millimeters, providing a consistent design element that fosters a sense of unity throughout the space.

To achieve a harmonious ambiance and avoid monotony, the cafe features a unique combination of materials. Stacked clay bricks with no holes form a coating skin on an iron frame, reducing the load and adding a touch of sophistication. The furniture, meticulously manufactured in perfect circles, includes concrete castings, combined wooden textures, and overlapping circular pipes. These bespoke fittings accentuate the rounded spaces, while travertine limestone, typically found in European squares’ fountains, adorns the floors, walls, and ceilings, enveloping visitors in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

The Parconido Bakery Cafe spans three floors, including a rooftop level that offers outdoor dining spaces. Here, clay brick columns with arched connections and U-shaped openings create a whimsical outdoor experience. The curved elements, coated with cut bricks to lighten their weight, extend above the brick walls, adding a touch of artistry to the overall design.

Inside the cafe, rounded forms dominate the space, with curved walls lined with white tiles seamlessly blending with the tiled floor and ceiling. Recessed kitchens tucked into the curved walls and wooden accents, such as wall panels and ceiling pipes, contribute to the cozy and inviting atmosphere.

The cafe’s furniture is a true testament to craftsmanship and creativity. Designed with a constant radius of 600 millimeters, each piece exhibits a variety of shapes, textures, and materials. From leftover finishing materials to wood, overlapping pipes, and concrete castings, every element is meticulously curated to harmonize with the surrounding space.

Parconido Bakery Cafe is not just a place to savor delectable food; it’s an artistic journey that transports visitors to the heart of Europe while embracing contemporary design. With its captivating blend of materials, harmonious shapes, and warm ambiance, this cafe promises to be a sanctuary for peaceful rest and a feast for the eyes.
