Outlier’s Experiment Series is a huge part of what has kept the NYC-based outfitter at the forefront of fashion. The line is intended to give the company’s designers unbridled freedom to push their boundaries. That creative license is at the core of what sets it apart from other brands thanks to its avant-garde designs grounded by a commitment to using functional materials. Experiment 201, the Outlier Hardmarine Longslash is a full-length winter coat that epitomizes what the Outlier Experiment Series is all about.
It evokes an image of a cloak, enveloping the body like a shadow. The cut of its outer shell falls below the waist and is comprised of Hardmarine fabric supplemented by Supima Duckcloth, a material that is a cornerstone of that makes Outlier apparel so capable of withstanding the elements. Its inner shell reinforces an exterior layer made to take the brunt of frigid gusts which would cut through lesser material. The softness of the interior is a perfect balance of F.Cloth material with a layer of PrimaLoft Infinity 120 insulation that creates a comforting fit that feels like returning to a warm bed. Outlier adds technical elements to the jacket such as Extrafleece lined pockets, an internal snow skirt, knit cuffs, eyes-wide hood, and water-resistant DWR coating. Though highly functional, none of those features take away from the minimalist aesthetic that is emblematic of the Outlier label.
