Omega and Swatch have announced a budget version of the iconic Speedmaster Moonwatch, an astronaut-inspired piece that usually retails for thousands of dollars. The new BIOCERAMIC MoonSwatch Collection is the first collaboration between the two brands. It goes on sale on March 26th in Swatch stores only and will cost just $260. Drawing inspiration from space, the two watchmakers have created a collection of 11 Swatch models named after planetary bodies and comes in a range of colors, including a black “Mission to the Moon” iteration that references the Speedmaster Moonwatch. All 11 designs are crafted in Swatch’s patented BIOCERAMIC, a mix of two-thirds ceramic and one-third material derived from castor oil.

One can find the key Moonwatch design features in the Omega x Swatch BIOCERAMIC MoonSwatch Collection – the asymmetrical case, the “dot over 90” detail on the tachymeter-scaled bezel, and subdials. Plus all hour, minute, and chronograph second hands and hour markers sport Super-LumiNova so they glow in the dark. The new collection comes in rarely seen colors – like Pale Blue, Sun-Brushed Gold, and Bronze, to name just a few. Each MoonSwatch features its own mission statement, inspirational engravings, and joint Omega and Swatch logos on the dial and crown. The battery cover on each watch features a depiction of its planet. A spacesuit-ready Velcro strap adds a final touch of astronaut chic.
