Norda has introduced the 055, a max-cushion trail running shoe that expands the Montreal brand’s Dyneema-based design language into a more protective, long-distance platform. Known for using high-performance materials across models like the 001 and 005, Norda is positioning the 055 as its all-mountain option for ultrarunning, technical trails, and longer days where durability matters as much as weight.

The 055 builds around a Dyneema upper with an integrated knit ankle collar that functions like a low-profile gaiter, helping keep debris out without adding a separate trail accessory. Dyneema-blend sawtooth laces continue the brand’s focus on abrasion resistance and secure lockdown, while the wider, more structured build gives the shoe a different purpose than the lighter, race-oriented 005.

Underfoot, Norda uses a custom Arnitel TPEE midsole, the same material family that helped define the 005, but with a higher-stack, more protective ride. Available specs point to approximately 38 mm at the heel and 31 mm at the forefoot for a 7 mm drop. The outsole pairs a bespoke Norda x Vibram platform with Megagrip Elite rubber and 5 mm lugs, giving the 055 a more aggressive stance for loose dirt, rock, mud, and steep descents.

The shoe has already built credibility before its official release. Rachael Entrekin wore the 055 during her outright win at the Cocodona 250, where she broke the course record in one of the most demanding ultramarathons in North America. That kind of field testing gives the 055 a sharper case than most material-led trail shoes.

The Norda 055 launches July 9 in the Strato colorway for $325. It will be available through Norda and select retailers.
