Nike can always be counted on to deliver cutting-edge, concept-driven, covetable sneakers that are snapped up by sneaker aficionados and everyday wearers alike. The new Nike Special Field AF-1 Hi Collection is designed in the same tradition.
The collection features high-top versions of the Air Force 1. Inspired by a military motif but made for civilian streets, they feature ballistic-grade mesh uppers which are accented by premium leather. A zip closure at the front, a heel pull tab, perforation hits, large Air Force 1 branding on the side, and a distinctive rubber sole are the more uniquely updated features of the shoes. Thick, bungee cord inspired laces bind up the exterior and add a tactical element that wouldn’t be out of place on a military base.
With an almost out of this world, galactic quality, the overall impact of these shoes would look right at home in an astronaut’s space suit kit, or with a pair of dark selvedge denim for a city night out. The Nike SF AF-1 Hi Collection is also offered in three shades of utilitarian chic in a bright, retro orange, a subdued yet lush rattan, and a sleek midnight black.
The shoes aren’t available until November but with a retail price of $200, they are sure to sell out fast. In the meantime, you can stare longingly at these out of this world sneakers here.
