Every so often a house is able to successfully combine its past with its present and a vibrant future. Likewise, MV House by Studio Guilherme Torres is such a house that has transitioned masterfully from the past into the present. The use of large metal beams provides a colder, futuristic aesthetic to the home, while the slatted wooden panels provide texture and warmth. Through the latter two attributes, guests are able to fondly look back on the journey that MV House took to become the timeless house it is today.
Painted brick walls, finished cement floors in the bathrooms and foyers, and a focus on wide open areas help to define the home. The eye is drawn in by the simplicity of the finishings, while the soul is reassured with the natural light that filters through MV House. In an ode to the old living room’s memory, Studio Guilherme Torres incorporated a green roof that successfully blends contemporary Brazilian architecture with traditional methods. The result is an idyllic combination between the past and present, with a look towards a sustainable future.
