Mercedes-AMG is returning the GLC43, based on the GLC300, for 2024 after being discontinued in 2022. It returns a 48-volt hybrid supported turbo four-banger producing over 400 horsepower. In addition to confirming the GLC63 S E Performance, AMG’s first high-performance hybrid SUV.
Aiding the GLC43’s 416 hp engine is a nine-speed automatic transmission, standard all-wheel drive, and AMG-tuned adaptive suspension. The current GLC300 is no slouch offering decent performance as a luxury compact SUV, so we expect the additional power in the GLC43 to make it a pocket rocket and the follow-up GLC63 S E Performance to be absolutely atomic.
Inside, the 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC43 carries many similarities with the GLC300, with AMG details sprinkled throughout the cabin. Expect to see carbon fiber polished to a fine gloss where pinstriped wood trim surrounds the chrome air vents and thicker bolstering on the optional sport front seats to hold you in place. A 12.3-inch digital gauge shows the driver the SUV’s vitals, while an 11.9-inch touchscreen shows the rest of the interior controls like standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Those waiting for the 2025 GLC63 S E Performance will be rewarded with 671 hp and 752 lb.-ft of torque, launching the driver and its passengers from zero to 60 in 3.4 seconds and onward to an electronically limited top speed of 171 mph.
Its power output is described as a P3 Hybrid layout, meaning it has a turbocharged 2.0-liter combustible engine at the front and an Electric Drive Unit (EDU) at the rear axle. This ECU features an electrically automated two-speed transmission and electronically controlled limited-slip rear differential to send the aggressive amounts of torque to the wheels.
The 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC43 is expected to arrive at dealers in early 2024, with the 2025 GLC63 S E Performance scheduled for late 2024.
