In an ever increasing world of blob looking crossover SUV’s trying to look sporty with angry headlights the station wagon has now turned into a breath of fresh air. Either through nostalgia, or a desire to be the hip, the station wagon is now seen as cool. Mercedes Benz and the mad engineers at AMG continue to make one of the coolest station wagons of all with the E 63 S. The 2021 Mercedes Benz AMG E 63 S estate wagon, and sedan, styling has been tinkered for the start of the new decade.
Most noticeably are new LED headlights, new bumpers, and Panamericana front grille. The front splitter is now available in Silver Shadow as a standard feature. Other colors include high gloss black, or carbon fiber as part of AMG performance packages. The interior will carry over from 2020 with small changes besides a redesigned steering wheel. Performance still comes from a 4.0-liter twin turbocharged engine making 603 horsepower and 627 pound feet of torque. Controlling all that power is AMG’s Speedshift nine speed dual-clutch transmission sending power to all four wheels. The E 63 S sedan can hit 60 in 3.3 seconds while the estate wagon can do it in 3.4 seconds. Carbon ceramic brakes from AMG are an available option for customers who want extra stopping power. Pricing for the 2021 AMG E 63 S has not been released yet.
