Hublot has just announced the addition of four new versions to the MP-09 “Manufacture Piece” Collection: Meet the Hublot MP-09 Tourbillon Bi-Axis 5 DAYS Power Reserve 3D Carbon. The MP-90 has always been an imposing watch within Hublot’s collection. It is the brand’s first bi-axis tourbillon, which gets center stage thanks to the uniquely shaped case that follows the curve of the wrist. This alone makes the MP-09 a masterpiece, as crafting all the different angles is highly complex.
Originally, the model was launched in King Gold, black 3D Carbon, and titanium. Now, Hublot is launching an additional four different color versions, all in 3D Carbon. 3D Carbon is a material that nobody masters like Hublot, which has succeeded in sculpting it to form curves, angles, and inclined planes of a rare complexity while always guaranteeing its water resistance and durability. Carbon also lends the new MP-09 a significant lightness, accentuating the sensation of a piece with an extreme look and a unique complication that is as light as a feather on the wearer’s wrist.
Equally impressive is the movement inside the case. Hublot’s Caliber HUB9009.H1.RA is a manual wound movement with a generous power reserve of 5-days. The bi-axis tourbillon is housed in a separate part of the case at six o’clock. There it performs its mesmerizing dance with a full rotation every minute for the first axis, while it takes the second axis 30 seconds to do the same. To ensure a perfect view, the MP-09 is fitted with a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on both sides. Hublot placed the date on the side of the off-center subdial for the hours and minutes, which can easily be adjusted by the lever at nine o’clock. All combined it makes for a spectacular and very colorful new interpretation of one of Hublot’s most imposing tourbillons.
Limited to only eight pieces in each color, collectors have the choice of blue, red, yellow, or green. Each of the Hublot pieces comes with a matching rubber strap as well as hands and hour markers. With this, they make a profoundly colorful statement, all the more because the case is an imposing 49mm in diameter and 17.95mm thick.
