Herman Miller, the iconic American furniture company, has released a new series of posters featuring designs from Alexander Girard, the renowned designer and architect. The posters are inspired by Girard’s Environmental Enrichment Panels, which were originally created in the 1970s to infuse workplaces with color and energy. The designs have been faithfully recreated in high-resolution digital prints on 100% cotton paper and are available framed or unframed.

Girard’s designs were instrumental in supporting Herman Miller’s bold new vision of work when it introduced the world’s first open-plan office system, the Action Office, in 1968. The panels featured patterns such as Bouquet, Double Hearts, Eyes, and Palace, and were intended to add interest and variety to workspaces.

The limited edition poster series pays tribute to Girard’s pioneering vision and demonstrates the timelessness of his designs. “Pattern has always been the entry point into Alexander Girard’s irresistibly optimistic universe,” says Ben Watson, President of Herman Miller. “These timeless designs are just as powerful as they were when introduced in 1972.”

Faithfully recreated and embossed with an authentic logo, the posters are available in American maple frames with a natural, white, or black finish. Girard created more than 300 textiles for Herman Miller, along with wallpapers, objects, furniture, and a series of Environmental Enrichment Panels as part of the Action Office system in 1973.

In today’s world, work happens everywhere, and one’s home environment can be equally creative and inspiring. Girard’s designs are as relevant and versatile as ever, bringing joy and vibrancy to any space. The Alexander Girard posters by Herman Miller are priced at $525 framed and $215 unframed and are available on Herman Miller’s website.
