It took 26 years but the Heaven’s Door Bootleg Series Whisky is finally available. After being aged in Mizunara Oak barrels, this low rye mash yields 55.75% ABV. The aging process behind the whisky is what really makes it such a rarity. Mizunara Oak is some of the most precious wood in the world, so getting a hold of barrels made of it is no easy feat. Each oak tree must be at least 200 years old before it is harvested. Using barrels made of this rare oak infuses this Heavens Door whisky with the aromatic tastes of sandalwood, clove, and coconut. The combination of these flavors is as unique as the collectable leather case and hand-made ceramic bottle that each 750ml of this whisky comes in.
This special batch of Heaven’s Door whisky gets its name from Bob Dylan’s Bootleg Series. Albums released in that collection offer listeners rare and previously unreleased performances of the folk legend’s most iconic songs, one of which is the namesake of the distillery. Like those Dylan albums, the Heaven’s Door Bootleg Series offers rare versions of a familiar spirit which illustrate the art form of distilling expertly crafted whisky.
