Gunther Werks and REC Watches have partnered to launch the 901GW Watch, a timepiece made with parts from California-based car modifiers, Gunther Werks, which has provided leftover carbon fiber material from its latest 25-unit Porsche 993 Remastered restoration modification project. The Porsche 993 was originally manufactured from 1994 to 1998, and in restoring the cars, with full lightweight carbon fiber bodies, a lot of waste was salvaged — which helped contribute to upcycling and makes each watch one-of-a-kind.
The Gunther Werks x REC project was a two-year undertaking that reflects an uncompromising approach to quality, details, and finishing. As a certified Swiss-made chronograph, featuring a fully in-house developed 6-piece case structure including the recycled carbon fiber, the 901 GW will, no doubt, make a bold impression to both car- and watch enthusiasts alike. As noted above, the 901 GW’s 44mm case design is crafted in 6 pieces from stainless steel and recycled carbon fiber from the Gunther Werks car. Tying into the theme of the vehicle, the REC 901 GW displays a raw exposed carbon and blue design. The 901 GW is driven by a Swiss-made SELLITA SW510 B automatic self-winding movement, which is capable of holding a 62-hour power reserve and 50-meter water resistance. The Gunther Werks x REC 901 GW is limited to only 188-pieces.
