Motorsport branding can turn a respectable bottle into expensive team merchandise. The Glenfiddich & Aston Martin Formula One Team 16-Year-Old Limited Edition Release No. 2 earns more attention by substantially changing the whisky inside the co-branded packaging.

Malt Master Brian Kinsman builds the new expression from five cask types: first-fill bourbon barrels, Port pipes, Oloroso sherry casks, red-wine casks, and a final contribution from Fino sherry butts. Release No. 1 was matured entirely in American oak, combining new American oak barrels, second-fill bourbon barrels, and American oak wine casks. Adding Port and two styles of sherry gives the second release a richer, drier structure while retaining Glenfiddich’s fruit-led character. It is bottled at 43% ABV.

Official tasting notes open with stewed fruit, floral top notes, marzipan, and polished leather. The palate moves through creamy, buttery toffee and caramelized cane sugar before dry oak tannins provide contrast. Glenfiddich describes the finish as long-lasting with lingering oak sweetness.
The five-part cask composition also supports the partnership’s conceptual link between Kinsman and Aston Martin Formula One Team Managing Technical Partner Adrian Newey: both rely on numerous details working together beneath the visible surface. It is a more convincing connection than the badge swapping common to motorsport collaborations and occupies the accessible end of recent Aston Martin whisky projects.
The 16-Year-Old Limited Edition Release No. 2 is rolling out nationwide during August 2026. The limited release carries a suggested retail price of $79.99.
