Genesis has been busy this year launching several new production models. Its latest vehicle is one that will surely be the envy of a particular niche group of American car enthusiasts. The Genesis G70 Shooting Brake is a sport wagon variant of the mid-sized G70 sedan and the brand’s first-ever production wagon. Sadly for us yanks, the G70 Shooting Brake is only destined for Europe. Like most station wagons, the G70 Shooting Brake wears the same face as the G70 sedan. The mullet effect happens past the second rear door as the Genesis G70 Shooting Brake sports an extended roofline and redesigned rear. The sport wagon’s backside features split tail lights, a four-fin diffuser, and a third brake light incorporated into its roof-mounted spoiler.
Genesis states this Shooting Brake’s rear luggage space is 40 percent larger than the sedan. It also features 40:20:40 folding rear seating to increase interior storage space. The interior of the G70 Shooting Brake will maintain Genesis’ premium quality standards. Press photos show a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel and a free-standing infotainment screen. What captures our attention is the G70’s red leather interior and dual-tone black and red interior accents. Genesis has not confirmed engine options for the G70 Shooting Brake. However, the current G70 sedan offers a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 249 horsepower. Other options include a 199-hp 2.2-liter diesel and a premium 365-hp twin-turbo 3.3-liter V6. One can assume these engine options will carry over to the Shooting Brake.
