Most wireless earbuds are treated as disposable once their batteries fade. The new Fairbuds 2 take a different position: the batteries in both earbuds and the charging case are user-replaceable, and seven components can be serviced rather than consigning the entire product to a drawer.

The second generation is smaller and lighter, with 11mm bio-cellulose dynamic drivers tuned by Form Follows Frequency. LDAC support allows higher-bitrate wireless playback on compatible devices, while hybrid active noise cancellation works with a six-microphone array. Bluetooth 6.0 provides multipoint connectivity, and an adjustable five-band equalizer is available through the companion app. The earbuds carry an IP54 rating against dust and splashes.

Fairphone estimates up to eight hours of playback with ANC off, extending to 40 hours with the case. A ten-minute charge can deliver two additional hours. The design retains the repairability that distinguishes the original Fairbuds, but adds more capable audio hardware and a reduced footprint.

In a market crowded with sealed wireless earbuds, the replaceable power cells are the most consequential specification.
The Fairbuds 2 are listed at €119 through Fairphone and selected European retailers. U.S. pricing and distribution have not been announced, so this remains an international release.
