After a decade of fan anticipation, the announcement of Dragon’s Dogma II has finally happened. The announcement happened during a 10th-anniversary live stream on June 16, with the publisher’s confirmation. Director, Hideaki Itsuno apologized for keeping fans waiting, saying Dragon’s Dogma II is currently in development and the team is working hard. Itsuno made a dramatic reveal by unzipping his hoodie as part of the Dragon’s Dogma II announcement, unveiling the new logo. The live stream ended with Itsuno showing off a short sizzle reel featuring the original game. Capcom also posted a follow-up Tweet Dragon’s Dogma II announcement that the game designers are building the latest version with RE Engine, the same gaming engine that games like Resident Evil and Monster Hunter Rise use in their designs.
This gaming engine by Capcom offers photorealistic textures that work with 60 fps, and compared to other engines, it holds its own. Capcom started in the gaming industry in 1979, and in 1983 the company began introducing cutting-edge technology and software, becoming a video game industry leader. Dragon’s Dogma’s first release was in 2012. Now the game makers are celebrating its 10th anniversary with Dragon’s Dogma II announcement. The thing is, it is probably still going to be a couple of years before the fans get to play. At least they now know that the sequel is in development, and Itsuno is directing it.
