A family-owned business for three generations, Canadian-based Viberg has been making high-quality handmade leather footwear for more than 40 years. Offered exclusively through Division Road, their new slippers are expertly crafted from brown split horsebutt, resulting in an irreplaceable piece that culminates decades of the outfitter’s refined shoemaking artisanship.
Deceptively simple, the Division Road Viberg Slipper has a classic and clean-lined silhouette that is adorned only by two rows of straightforward stitching at the ankle. A closer look, however, reveals grains and textures that you’ve never before seen in a leather shoe.
The secret is in the Viberg Slipper’s vegetable tanned brown split horsebutt leather. Each shoe is produced from a single piece of this material specially imported from one of Italy’s most exclusive tanneries. Brown split horsebutt leather contains both the shell and flesh layers of cowhide. The melding of and variation between these two distinct layers yields a unique pattern of matte suede and shiny outer hide that will naturally evolve beautiful crinkles, spots, and patina to conform to the unique contours of your feet as they age with wear.
