Recently, adidas has been actively changing its sneaker game by working with more sustainable material options. With the launch of their Primegreen material (a fabric that contains no virgin plastic), the sportswear brand is keeping it more fun, renewable, and fashionable with a brand new Disney collaboration, Disney x adidas Stan Smith Kermit. As the name suggests, this latest collaboration highlights one of Disney’s most beloved stars, Kermit, The Frog. For the adidas iconic white Stan Smith court sneaker, Kermit’s name is embossed on the heel and his portrait printed on the left tongue, as well as on the co-branded sock liners, and the phrase “Being Green” embossed across both heel tabs.
We have seen a growing number of brands using sustainable materials in their products. adidas, for instance, is committed to using recycled polyester in its shoes and clothing by 2024 to end the brand’s plastic waste. The latest iteration of the adidas Stan Smith timeless tennis silhouette features the proprietary Primegreen upper mentioned earlier. This material is composed of 100% recycled polyester. Underfoot, the shoe’s outsole is made from rubber waste. The new shoe features its signature details, including three rows of barely-there perforations to represent the adidas heritage and a line drawing of Smith’s face on the tongue.
