Among aficionados of classic military wristwatches, few timepieces are more valued than the legendary MilSub. Issued to British Royal Navy divers in the 1960s and 1970s, this Rolex model regularly sells for six-digit figures. However, even seasoned military watch collectors are generally unaware of the incredible value of MilSub’s successor. Manufactured by the Cabot Watch Company (CWC), the first version of this self-winding mechanical timepiece is far more rare than the Rolex it replaced.
CWC continued to create incredible watches for the British Royal Navy over the course of several decades. As a tribute to its longstanding military traditions, the company recently released an exact remake of its vintage 1980 Royal Navy Divers watch.
Limited to just 600 units, this Swiss-made reissue is composed of the same stainless steel and sapphire glass that were used in the original. In fact, nearly everything about this watch, from its sword-motif hands to its screw-down crown, is made to exact MOD 1980 specifications. Only its tritium luminescence, which allows the watch to be easily read even 300 meters under water, has been added to the Royal Navy Divers original design.
The CWC 1980 Royal Navy Divers Watch Reissue comes with a protective watch roll of full-grain Italian leather. Complete with a special compartment for spare straps, this case is hot foiled debossed with a CWC logo that was made especially for the launch of this amazing timepiece.
