CLAE of Los Angeles has collaborated with DESSERTO, a pioneer in organic, vegan leather made out of cactus plants, to introduce the very first cactus leather sneakers, the Bradley. In response to the demand for natural footwear, a move to using plant-based materials is a natural next step. Grown in Zacatecas, Mexico, this cactus leather is cultivated without the use of any pesticides or herbicides and is harvested in sustainable cycles every six to eight months, affording the time needed to be fully regenerative.
Offered in green, white, or black, this PETA-approved and USDA-certified material comprise the CLAE Bradley’s uppers, while the sole of these hand-crafted shoes are made from a 100% natural rubber sourced from the latex sap of the Hevea tree and the laces are derived from recycled nylon. Shoes made this way are not only sustainable, but they’re also organic too which is sure to put a bounce in the steps of those who wear these innovative shoes.
