KEF and renowned British industrial designer Ross Lovegrove recently collaborated to produce the KEF Mu7 wireless over-ear, noise-canceling headphones. Known for sculptural forms that incorporate design and technology, Ross Lovegrove is the winner of numerous international awards. This collaboration combines high-resolution sound and an intuitive design featuring Smart Active Noise Cancellation, which adjusts the listening experience to the user’s surroundings using multiple filters that capture and cancel environmental noise and frequencies. KEF says the Mu7 headphones use Qualcomm’s aptX HD technology to deliver up to 24bit/ 48kHz for an exceptional listening experience.

The headphones feature a capacitive touchpad on the right earcup. The touchpad allows users to control the device with a tap to answer and end calls, play, and pause. A long press activates the voice assistant. Similarly, a swipe up or down adjusts the volume, and a swipe forward or backward is all it takes to skip and replay tracks.

When it comes to aesthetics, less is more. Lovegrove designed these headphones with a clean line and limited the color finishes to silver grey or charcoal grey. Additionally, the designer kept ergonomic comfort in mind, using memory foam ear cushions that form to fit the user. KEF says the headband has a clamping force that creates an acoustic seal without putting pressure on the user’s ears. KEF Mu7 headphones are available online for $400 at KEF and through KEF retailers.
