Back in 2002, Nick and Giles English founded the Bremont Watch Company. The brothers grew up flying with their father and working on restoring vintage WWII-era planes. It was a natural fit when the duo forged a partnership with aircraft ejection-seat specialists Martin Baker back in 2009. A fellow British firm, it is renowned for creating equipment that saves pilots’ lives (to date, 7,650 to be exact) and has outfitted 80 aircraft types for 88 air forces globally. Since then, the companies have worked together, with the Bremont MB Collection among the most recognizable in the watchmaker’s lineup. Now, in an effort to create something lighter for aviators’ wrists, they have dropped a handsome new Bremont MB, dubbed the Savanna, crafted in Grade 5 titanium.
Starting with the color scheme, the 43mm Bremont MB Savanna takes its cues from the grassy plains of Africa (hence the name) and military camouflage colors, accenting everything from the case and the rubber strap to the metal dial and date disc. Even the indexes and hands come in sand-colored Grade X1 Super-LumiNova. The MB Savanna incorporates an array of updated design elements including an anti-reflective tactical protective case surface treatment and an advanced ruthenium-plated skeletonized rotor. True to the MB range, the Savanna model features the distinctive knurled effect on the barrel and crowns inspired by components on Martin Baker’s ejection seats. The Bremont MB Savanna has passed a battery of tests including those for Live Ejection Testing, Extreme Temperature Endurance, and Vibration Testing, just to name a few. The Martin Baker seal of approval is symbolized by the black and yellow ejector seat loop that serves as Savanna’s central seconds hand counterbalance.
