Breguet is marking its 250th anniversary the only way it knows how—by reimagining history in precious metal. The new Tradition Seconde Rétrograde 7035 blends the horological genius of Abraham-Louis Breguet with 21st-century refinement, resulting in a timepiece that’s as much art as it is engineering. Limited to 250 pieces and priced at $51,200, this is a collector’s watch with a serious legacy baked into every component.

The 38mm case is rendered in warm-toned 18k Breguet gold—a proprietary alloy that nods to antique hues while resisting fade. On the dial, the classic off-centered layout returns, now dressed in blue Grand Feu enamel over an intricate engine-turned “Quai de l’Horloge” guilloché pattern, inspired by the Seine’s path past Breguet’s original Parisian workshop. A retrograde seconds complication and Breguet’s signature open-tipped gold hands add visual interest and mechanical elegance.

Inside, the calibre 505SR is pure craftsmanship on display, with exposed bridges, gears, and a regulating organ all visible dial-side. Around back, a platinum crescent moon rotor swings over a shot-blasted main plate—a subtle nod to Breguet’s antique perpétuelle pocket watches. From the shock-resistant “pare-chute” system to the Nivachron hairspring, this watch isn’t just beautiful—it’s a technical achievement.
Finished with a navy blue alligator strap and housed in a deep red anniversary box, the Seconde Rétrograde 7035 is Breguet’s love letter to the past—and a bold promise for the next 250 years.
