The winner of three international Sports Car series as well as the 2009 24 Hours of Le Mans, David Brabham builds upon his remarkable 70-year racing career by expanding into the world of racecar manufacturing. His new company, Brabham Automotive, recently showcased its first car, the Brabham BT62, at a gala event in London.
David Brabham regards his company as a revitalization of the original racecar manufacturer to bear the Brabham name. Co-founded by his father (motorsports legend Jack Brabham) in the early 60s, this company established a convention of naming each of its creation using the prefix “BT.” Continuing this naming tradition, the BT62 takes Brabham manufacturing into the future with a highly aerodynamic and undeniably aggressive design. Limited to 70 examples, this car is just as impressive under the hood. Its naturally-aspirated, 5.4-liter capacity V8 engine boasts 700-hp, 492 lb-ft of torque, and an incredible power-to-weight ratio of 730 horsepower per ton.
Designed specifically for the track, this car is ready to leap into the racing circuit. If all goes according to plan, David Brabham himself may just drive his new creation in a triumphant 24 Hours of Le Mans return.
