BMW has revealed its highly anticipated 8-Series Concept prior to its official debut at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este.
The large kidney grille dominates the front end of the expressive coupe, with a sleek and flowing side profile that is accentuated by the muscular wheel arches. The interior design shifts direction from traditional BMWs with a more minimalist and driver focused design.
Although officially a concept, the vehicle closely previews the production version that will soon follow. The 8-Series, when it goes into production in 2018, will take on the likes of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe, Aston Martin DB11, Maserati GranTurismo, and to a certain extent Porsche 911.
BMW is still officially keeping hush about what will motivate the stylish two-door coupe, but expect to see a variety of engine choices ranging from turbocharged 3.0-liter six cylinders to the massive 6.6-liter turbo V12.
