If you’re a mountain climber, you know that your shoes aren’t something you should skimp on. The Black Diamond Momentum Climbing Shoes are something that you definitely want to have on your feet before tackling El Capitan — or just any set of boulders.
With the belief that the shoe is the only piece of climbing gear that matters in relation to performance, the designers at Black Diamond spent five years in research and development to create their line of climbing shoes, bringing in climbing veterans and technical developers as advisors.
With the Momentum, Black Diamond applied took inspiration from the way their carabiners are manufactured, molding the rubber of the shoes in the same fashion that a carabiner is made from a single piece of metal. Thus, each mold is made to ensure the rubber’s natural comfort, durability, consistency, and performance. The fabric upper of the shoe is made completely of Black Diamond’s Engineered Knit Technology that allows stretch when needed, support where it matters, and breathability throughout. A micro-fiber liner at the front of the shoe minimizes unnecessary stretch and maximizes comfort. The Momentum shoes can be worn to endure a full day of cragging or simply to pound the gym pavement.
