The Royal Oak is celebrating its 50th birthday this year, so it is no surprise that Audemars Piguet has announced a new Perpetual Calendar Blue Ceramic — a brand new color added to the lineup. Since 1972 the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak has been released in assorted variations, including the Music Edition, Offshore Collection, and various colors of ceramic cases. The company has used Zirconium Oxide powder-infused ceramic baked at 1,400 degrees Celsius to create a striking electric blue hue for its newest release.

“Entirely dressed in blue, the new Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Blue Ceramic watch introduces Audemars Piguet’s first case and bracelet entirely crafted in blue ceramic,” says Audemars Piguet.com. “The matching blue Grande Tapisserie dial and subdials further bestow the timepiece with an air of starlit sky.” The dial features the “Grande Tapisserie” pattern, blue counters, and 18k white gold applied hour markers with Royal Oak hands and luminescent coating. The bracelet is also blue ceramic with a titanium AP folding clasp.

The case measures 41mm with a thickness of 9.5 mm. The watch features a water resistance of 20m. It is powered by the in-house caliber 5134 self-winding movement and includes a perpetual calendar function that provides week, day, date, astronomical moon, month, leap year, hours, and minutes. Pricing and availability are only available upon request from the manufacturer’s website.
