Unveiled this week by Aston Martin Chief Creative Officer Marek Reichman at the Shanghai Auto Show, the Rapide E is a first for many reasons. Most significantly, It’s the first all-electric production model for Aston Martin, powered by an incredibly efficient 800V battery system that can propel the vehicle more than 200 miles on a single charge.
Representing the transition of Aston Martin’s Lagonda into “the world’s first zero-emission luxury brand,” the Rapide E is also the first vehicle to grace the electric-optimized production line at Aston Martin’s new state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in Saint Athan, Wales.
If you’re looking for performance quality to match the incredibly sporty look of the Rapide E, you won’t be disappointed. The car produces 600 hp and 700 ft-lbs of torque to push it from 0 to 60 in less than four seconds and reach top speeds in excess of 150 miles per hour.
