The Jaguar E-Type, Lamborghini Miura, and Buick Riviera come to mind when we think of vehicles so beautiful they have to be considered art. For artist Daniel Arsham, he wanted to turn a car into a rolling, drivable art piece. Rather than choosing an ordinary vehicle, he decided to pick a real classic – a Porsche 911 turbo. For the last two years, Arsham and a group of dedicated artists and craftsmen have converted this German sports car into a rolling visual homage to Porsche’s racing pedigree and Arsham’s personal journey to create the Porsche 911 Turbo 930A.
According to Porsche, Arsham describes the car’s look as a “Futuristic Porsche racing team” blended with his own history. Details of this can be seen throughout the car like the gear knob made to look like one from a Porsche 917, or its custom wheels inspired by the magnesium RSR rims. The exterior paint features a racing livery painted by hand by artist David “Death Spray Custom” Gwyther. The logos on the 930A are said to be a nod to Arsham’s past collaborations, gallery representations, and fictional future racing events. The upholstery uses custom stonewashed canvas paired with navy colored leather and grey tones used on the seats, dash, and door panels. The Porsche 930A is not the first time Arsham has worked with the famed German auto manufacturer. Judging by this latest creation, it most certainly won’t be the last.
