When Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen packed his Globe-Trotter luggage and trudged across Antarctica to visit the South Pole in 1911, he first went to live with the Inuits to study their knowledge of cutting-edge cold weather survival technology of the time. In 2009, his great-grandson Jørgen Amundsen and childhood friend Erik Friis created Amundsen Sports to develop products inspired by the past and built for the future.
The latest product is the Amundsen Heroes Sherpa Wool Fleece, a hooded jacket in soft yet rugged, natural undyed sheep wool. Amundsen calls this fleece a “wearable comforter that wraps you in the cozy comfort of sherpa fleece.”
The jacket features a chest pocket made from a waxed cotton blend for storing explorer essentials, a three-button front closure and hood, and a hand-warmer tunnel pocket. The Heroes Fleece’s fashionable design and inherent warmth make it a stand-out jacket from other fleeces that will have wearers looking sharp while staying warm.
It’s important to note that Amundsen garments have a tailored, slim fit, and customers have given excellent reviews. However, they recommend using the size chart to determine your best size. The Amundsen Heroes Sherpa Wool Fleece is available now for $249.
