Mini unveiled the new generation of the electrified Cooper hatchback for 2024 in Munich, Germany. The new model wears updated styling that doesn’t lose its cultural identity and two powertrains for the global market.
Two powertrain versions of the 2024 Mini Cooper electric will depend on what part of the world you live in: the Cooper E and Cooper SE. The Mini Cooper E features an 181-horsepower electric motor with a 40.7-kWh battery pack providing 189 miles of range with DC fast charging up to 75kW. The most potent 2024 Mini Cooper Electric SE delivers a 215 hp electric motor with a larger 54.2-kWh battery, providing a calculated 249 miles of range with DC fast charging up to 95kW. Both variants are front-wheel drive. It is currently unknown which one will be offered for the U.S. market.
The design of the 2024 Mini Cooper Electric keeps its iconic circular headlights and adds LED technology. It features standard daytime running lights and main beams with integrated horizontal light graphics. Buyers also have three-mode adjustable light signatures to personalize the Cooper’s daytime running lights. These new headlamps sandwich a new octagonal grille for the endearing Mini Cooper face.
At the rear, the 2024 Cooper electric features flush tail lights with different modes like the front. Designers took a minimalist approach when styling the exterior and interior of the new electric Mini Cooper.
They removed all the non-essentials for a tranquil atmosphere and focused on what’s important, like a round 9.44-inch central display screen running the latest Mini Operating System 9, developed in-house by BMW Group. Underneath the round screen is a redesigned toggle bar housing the controls for the parking brake, gear selector, start/stop key, experience mode, and audio volume.
The 2024 Mini Cooper electric will be offered in four trim levels” Essential, Classic, Favoured, and the John Cooper Works (JCW). Gasoline-powered variants will still be offered—more details on the full lineup when it launches in the U.S. next spring.
