Yamaha has expanded its GYTR lineup with the addition of the R1. For 2023, the Yamaha R1 GYTR aims to be the ultimate track-day bike for enthusiasts and racers. Yamaha is offering a ready-to-race package for its flagship superbike for the first time in its history. In addition, Yamaha is selling a GYTR Pro variant, billed as the closest thing to owning a full-fledged World Super Bike racing motorcycle without a sponsorship.

To create the R1 GYTR superbike, Yamaha gave a standard R1 a catalog of racing parts. These race parts include stainless steel brake lines, a new ECU, Akrapovic Race exhaust, and Brembo Z04 brake pads. As a result, the GYTR spec Yamaha R1 weighs over 11 pounds less than standard. Moreover, this factory motorcycle meets FIM Superstock 1000 rules. Of course, those looking for more power and exclusivity can opt for the limited edition Yamaha R1 GYTR Pro.

The Yamaha R1 GYTR Pro takes it up a notch by adding a new inverted swingarm, Marchesini rims, and a carbon fiber subframe. Other components, like new Ohlins FGR400 forks and a new fuel tank, are also included in the GYTR Pro package. Yamaha developed both GYTR performance packages with help from professional WSB riders to gain a perfect balance between track prowess and reliability. While not intended for road use, the track-only 2023 Yamaha R1 GYTR is a 998cc missile aimed at the nearest race track. However, these weekend warrior track bikes are only available through Yamaha Pro shops.
