Honda has unveiled the 2023 Civic Type-R. Well, most of it anyway. After several teasers, we now have a full look at the 2023 Honda Civic Type-R. Compared to the radical looks of the outgoing model, the new-gen Type-R appears more restrained in terms of styling, but Honda has reassured us that this is “the most powerful Type-T ever.”
The car’s official debut won’t be until the fall, so Honda is keeping the new Civic Type-R’s performance specs and pricing a secret until then. Nevertheless, we know the Type-R is flexing a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-banger under the hood. The angry little engine feeds its power to a six-speed manual transmission featuring rev-matching. The new Type-R rolls on a new tire and wheel combination. Gone are the 20-inch in favor of a lightweight set of 19-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires.
The 2023 Honda Type-R features a top-tier Civic interior with unique details. For example, all Honda Civic Type-R interiors come standard with bright red sport bucket front seats. Other standard equipment includes dual-zone climate control, a digital gauge cluster, and a 9-inch infotainment screen. Moreover, Type-R can select the +R drive model, which displays gear position, shift lights, and a racing-inspired tachometer. The 2023 Honda Civic Type-R is available only as a hatchback and will be launched later this year in the fall.
